How the song “Be Still” was written
One night I had a dream that I was on stage singing a chorus of a song. I woke up and could not get the melody out of my head, so that morning I decided I would try and complete that song. The chorus lyrics were “I will be still and know that you are my God. You’re the Great I Am and Your love never fails.” I opened my Bible to Psalms 46 and meditated on that as my devotions for the morning. As I was reading I felt the Holy Spirit say to me that I should be anchored in God’s love for me and that His love will never fail. I went to work shortly after and that very morning we experienced an armed robbery. With guns pointed to us we were asked to lay on the floor and not move. I went facedown and all I could hear was chaos around me, and threats that if we move we would be shot. All I could think of while laying there was…”Be still Verona, Gods love for you will never fail”.
When the ordeal was over all could focus on was that chorus and the words of the Spirit…Be still and remember that Gods love will never fail. I was so thankful to God for reassuring me of His love for me even before I could go through that experience. His love was the anchor that held me together.
I hope you enjoy Be Still and as you worship with it may Gods love surround you and be your anchor in the midst of every storm.
